Situated in a quiet square this Victorian house, which retained most of its original period features, had been built as a modest, artisan dwelling. Our client is a commercial landlord, whose brief was to modernise “to last 100 years”, creating maximum rental appeal and avoiding a bland, ‘hotel’ finish. The property had not been touched for over 40 years, so practically everything needed replacing, renewing or repairing, including all floorboards, all internal walls and most of the joists.
We created an appealing, modern layout to suit the needs of a contemporary lifestyle, with a new kitchen and dining room in the basement, and a conservatory added for breakfast. We fashioned new, large double bedrooms, each with plenty of built-in wardrobes, plus spacious ensuite and family bathrooms. New, low-energy heating and electrical systems created a warmer, brighter ambience throughout. A fabulous redesign, let within two weeks of going on the market.
