This fascinating and challenging project for a commercial client involved knocking down and rebuilding two adjacent houses in a narrow and well hidden street in Mayfair. In this narrow central London thoroughfare, the needs of discerning neighbours were a major consideration negotiated throughout the construction phase. A demanding renovation timeline and some to’ing and fro’ing over layout possibilities further added to our challenge.
The two houses offered rather modest space on their own so we addressed this by placing an open plan kitchen / diner on the first floor of each. One house has a garage, whilst the other did not, so we applied different bedroom configurations to both properties, creating pleasant individual properties full of character, both with a master suite on the top floor and second bedrooms at ground floor level. A practical and highly attractive commercial redevelopment.
