One of the first rooms you are likely to look at renovating when you invest in a house in London that you are aware needs a bit of fixing up is the living room. If some of the other rooms could do with some work, but are acceptable enough at first, then you want at least to have one room that is really cosy and comfortable and completely to your taste.
It makes a lot of sense to invest in a house that needs work doing on it because you’re likely to get it for a knockdown price. If you’re prepared to wait a little while for your home to take on a really lovely interior design and some of your own character, then renovating slowly is the ideal situation.
If you start by renovating the lounge then at least you’ll have a place where you and your family can relax and enjoy being in your new surroundings with your own personal stamp on the décor. Since the lounge is used by all the family, it represents the perfect starting point for your home improvements, allowing slowly but surely you renovate the rest.
