Our client for this project was incredibly fussy, with strong opinions and high expectations – a challenging prospect, but one we were happy to take on. Being a style guru and trend-setter himself, we were honoured to be asked to help him create a combination of ‘cool modern aesthetics’ which would be practical and stand the test of time – ‘to look good in 20 years’ time not passé and dated’, as he said. The desired effect was one that was truly timeless and simple.
By drawing together the whole lower ground floor entertaining and socialising area, we achieved a feeling of one single large space, which would provide the client with the option both to extend parties in to the kitchen, and spill out in to the garden during the summer months. The back wall was replaced with large sliding glass doors to allow the eye to flow straight through to the bottom of the garden. A polished concrete floor, the colour of which is picked up on the outdoor tiles, emphasises this stunning effect.
